Alikampos is a beautiful hilltop village with fantastic views of the White Mountains. The village is set in the foothills of the White Mountains, just off the main road that leads to Sfakia and the south coast of the island. Alikampos is a small, traditional village which has a local kafeneio and some small grocery stores.
The Church of the Assumption is a small Byzantine chapel with extraordinary frescoes dating from the 14th century (by Ioannis Pagomenos 1315-6). The surrounding hillsides are covered with lush vegetation and conifer trees. The village is also famous for its winery and one of the newer quality wine producers (to view Dourakis Winery website and arrange a visit click here) is situated close to the village.
The village is only a few minutes away from the National Road and the village of Vrisses, whilst the sandy beaches of Georgioupoli are only 10km away.
