The village of Douliana is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages one can visit in Crete. It is located on top of a small hill with views to the North towards the sea and the mountains to the south. To the east and west of the village there is rich vegetation and forests and lovely views to other small villages of the area.
Two deep-water streams with enormous cypress and oak trees surround Douliana. You can walk through the streams and visit the caves and St John's chapel that is built on a rock inside one of these caves.
The Greek Ministry of Culture classifies the village as a Traditional Greek village of extraordinary natural beauty. All the village houses are preserved and are built in the traditional architectural style. There is a taverna, a typical Greek ‘kafeneion’ (café) and a mini market.

The village is only 3km away from the nearest beach and 4km from the village of Kalives where there are public services, shops and another beach. The village is 25km from Chania, 20km from Souda port and 30km from the airport.
