SOURI

Souri is a small Cretan traditional village, near Vamos - the capital of Apokoronas area. The village of Souri is built on the side of a small hill and has wonderful views to the west towards the White Mountains, and to the north towards the sea. Nearly all the existing houses were built from stonemasons in the last century using the local dark colored stone.

Most of the villagers are working in agriculture and farming. In our days, the new owners of the houses have beautifully renovated many of the old traditional stone dwellings of the village. The renovated buildings contribute to the image of regeneration of the village. This regeneration becomes more apparent year on year, as one by one all the old houses are being renovated adding value to the area.
